Obesity in the United States is a serious public health issues. Strategies for obesity prevention include three group’s i.e. very young children, early adolescents, and postpartum women. During childhood, young children are dependent on parents for provision of food;efforts should be channelled towards mothers as agents of change to prevent obesity. Adolescence life stage is opportune time for intervention as individuals gain more freedom in making decisions about their food choices. In this stage a focus on the home may be promising approach to prevention of obesity. A postpartum woman is a time where mothers have to acclimate to rapid changes in life events, making healthful behaviours more challenging. Intervention strategies for these women should focus on improving dietary restraint, decreasing energy intake, enhancing nutrition knowledge and adherence to dietary guidelines. So implementation of the above strategies in these undeserved, at-risk groups may help diminish the obesity epidemic.
